Pleasure Cycling in the Rhine River

Your voyage through the most beautiful wine-growing areas along the Rhine River begins in Koblenz. From this city, located on the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, and surrounded by majestic vineyards and mystic castle ruins, your floating hotel sets sail for Mainz. On board the ship as well as on your bike tours, you pass through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Middle Rhine Valley with its picturesque small towns, coloured half-timbered gable buildings and legendary castles. Short cycle tours through the idyllic landscape and plenty of time to discover each town, make this journey a special event for beginners and for people who enjoy pleasure.

1st Day: Arrival to Koblenz

Individual arrival and embarkation at 4:00 ; On the ship, you will be welcomed by your captain and crew and the tour management.

2nd Day: Koblenz – Boppard, Cycle Tour approx. 23 km

You begin your first cycle tour at the gate to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, in the historic city of Koblenz. Surrounded by vineyards and castle ruins, cycle alongside the Rhine River in the direction of Boppard.

3rd Day: Boppard – Oberwesel, Cycle Tour approx. 20 km

From Boppard, start off for a cycle tour that leads along the Rhine to Oberwesel. On this short trip, you come by many scenic outposts from where you have the possibility to enjoy the varied landscape. From the bank of the river, the many fortresses and the legendary Loreley cliff offer a picturesque backdrop all along the way.

4th Day: Oberwesel – Rüdesheim, Cycle Tour approx. 25 km

Todays cycle tour starts in Oberwesel. Riding past slate cliffs and through thick forests, on your way you pass sights like the Pfalzgrafenstein Castle near Kaub and the Niederwald Monument before reaching todays destination, the wine town of Bingen. Here we suggest that you visit the world-famous Drosselgasse.

5th Day: Rüdesheim – Mainz, Cycle Tour approx. 30 km

On this stretch, the Rhine River shows off again all of its beauty. On your way, you ride past Eltville am Rhein. The towns landmark, the Electoral Castle, is well worth a visit. Mainz, todays destination, is home to numerous impressive buildings. You may want to visit St Martin`s Cathedral, one of the proud imperial cathedrals in Germany, or the Electoral Palace. Lined with beautiful half-timbered buildings and wine taverns, pretty narrow lanes and marvellous squares like the Augustinerstraße and the Kirschgarten Square invite you for a stroll through the Old Town.

6th Day: Mainz – Nierstein, Cycle Tour approx. 17-26 km / Boat Tour Nierstein – Worms

A short leg of the journey with lots of time to indulge: directly alongside the Rhine, you cycle on the well-paved Rhine Cycle Route to Nierstein. With almost 1.000 hectares of vineyard surface area, Nierstein is the biggest wine-growing municipality on the Rhine. You may also want to visit the historic Old Town with its medieval market square and the noble houses. In the afternoon, enjoy the boat tour from Nierstein to Worms.

7th Day: Worms – Nierstein, Cycle Tour approx. 37 km / Boat Tour Nierstein – Mainz

Start off for today`s cycle tour in Worms, the city of the Nibelungs. On an extensive cycle tour alongside the bank of the Rhine River, you will have again the possibility to fall for the charms of the vineyards and to enjoy the scenery along the Rhine. Coming from the south, you cycle towards Nierstein, also referred to as the Riesling City. From there, your ship sets sail for Mainz.

8th Day: Departure from Mainz

After breakfast, disembarkation at 09:00 am.

ITINERARY Mainz-Koblenz

1st Day: Arrival in Mainz

4th Day : Mainz – Rüdesheim, Cycle Tour approx. 32 km
Today the Rhine River and its surrounding area show you the reason why the Upper Middle Rhine Valley has been declared UNESCO World Heritage. Beautiful Rhine islands, steep slate cliffs and vineyards characterize the area around Rüdesheim. On the bike tour, cycle past Eltville with electoral castle, and Oestrich-Winkel, whose landmark is a historic wine loading crane, to Rüdesheim. Here we suggest that you visit the world-famous Drosselgasse. Day 5th Day : Rüdesheim – Oberwesel, Cycle Tour approx. 26 km
In the morning, start off from Rüdesheim by bike. Past thick forests and gorgeous vineyards, riding always alongside the Rhine, you will pass sights like the Niederwald Moument and Pfalzgrafenstein Castle, before reaching Oberwesel, todays destination.
6th Day : Oberwesel – Boppard, Cycle Tour approx. 20 km
From Oberwesel, you start for a short cycle tour along the Rhine to Boppard. On this short trip, you come by many scenic outposts from where you have the possibility to enjoy the varied landscape. From the bank of the river, the many fortresses and the legendary Loreley cliff offer a picturesque backdrop all along the way.
7th Day : Boppard – Koblenz, Cycle Tour approx. 22 km
Cycle from Boppard to Koblenz, today`s destination. Here the Moselle River joins the Rhine. One last time, cycle past impressive buildings like the Marksburg Castle in Braubach and Stolzenfels Castle. Let the day come to an end at the Deutsche Eck, the German Corner, or ride to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view over the city of Koblenz.
8th Day : Departure from Koblenz
After breakfast, disembarkation at 09:00 am.

Schedule and program changes Basically, we reserve the right to make changes of routing and program. In case of flood or low tide, the shipping company reserves the right to bridge parts of passages by buses. In extreme situations, the ship-ping company reserves the right to cancel the journey on short notice. No legal right shall be constituted of both situations. The same applies for officially ordered – previously not announced – repair work on locks or bridges.

Comfortable and cosy river ship with family environment. The ship was refurbished in 2015/2016. The panoramic salon with bar in gentlemen club-style and the bright and friendly restaurant are waiting for you to pass relaxing hours here. A spacious, partly shaded sun deck and storage space for bicycles.

49 outside cabins, comfortable and cosy with en-suite bathroom, hair dryer, telephone, TV, individual air condition-ing/heating, fridge and safe.

Main Deck: 21x 2-bed-cabins (approx. 11 m2), panoramic window (not opening windows)
Upper Deck: 22x 2-bed-cabins (approx. 11 m2) + four 2-bed-cabins of bigger size at the stern of the ship (= 2-bed-cabins astern: per-ceptive engine and generator noise when ship is in motion and in locks, approx. 12 m2, three of them feature twin beds) as well as two single cabins (approx. 9m2). Panoramic windows to be opened.

  • Koblenz: Public car park near the pier in Koblenz from approx. € 140,-/week and free commuter parking outside. From there you can take the public bus into the city. No reservation possible.
    Please note: In Koblenz, the car cannot be loaded or unloaded in front of the ship!
  • Mainz: Car Park at the central station (unguarded, cannot be booked in advance). Parking fee approx. € 55,- per week.
  • Return to Koblenz by train from Mainz to or the other way in 1 hour, approx. € 25,- per person.
