Short tour at Altmühltal Cycle Path

Bizarre rock formations line the course of the river through a landscape of unique beauty. In the centre of all this lies the “capital of the Altmühl valley”, Eichstätt. Artificially created biotopes and beautiful oxbow lakes flank the canal. Picturesque towns and superbly preserved castles lie on the banks of the river. The best examples of this are the three-castle town of Riedenburg and the Prunn Palace.

3 different hotel categories to choose

1st Day: Region Eichstätt

Individual arrival to the historic old town. Eichstätt’s baroque ambience exudes joie de vivre and inspires with masterful buildings and squares.

2nd Day: Region Eichstätt – Beilngries (approx. 45 km)

Travelling through the Gungoldinger Wacholderheide (juniper heath), your journey leads you into the three-castle-town of Riedenburg, where a magnificent collection of crystals and gemstones can be found in the crystal museum. Beilngries’ historic centre of the old town is surrounded by a well-preserved city wall.

3rd Day: Beilngries – Region Kelheim (approx. 50-55 km)

After a visit to the sluice of the Main-Danube-Canal, you cycle towards the city of Dietfurt. In Kelheim, you can visit the imposing Befreiungshalle (Hall of Liberation) on the Michelsberg.

4th Day: Region Kelheim – Regensburg (approx. 40-45 km)

At Weltenburg, you can experience the breakthrough of the Danube by ship (not included in the travel price). It is not far now to your stage destination Regensburg. The medieval cityscape awaits your discovery with over 1.000 single memorials in the UNESCO- world heritage city.

5th Day: Regensburg
