The Classic along the Enns

Breathtaking natural landscapes await you along the Enns. From the ski mountains of the Salzburger Sportwelt, along the Dachstein in Schladming in Styria, through the national parks Gesäuse and Kalkalpen to the Upper Austrian provincial capital Linz. A certain level of fitness is required here, as the Enns Cycle Path is slightly hilly; However, the daily stages are kept moderate, so that this tour is also possible for everyone.

1st Day: Radstadt

Individual arrival, handover of travel documents and bikes. A walk in Radstadt, the “old town in the mountains” is well worth it.

2nd Day: Radstadt – Gröbming, approx. 45 km

On the first day of cycling you follow the still narrow Enns until Styria before you are soon amazed at the breathtaking south face of the Dachstein before you reach the Ski World Cup location Schladming. You cross the now wide valley comfortably until a short ascent to Gröbming ends the stage.

3rd Day: Gröbming – Admont, approx. 55 km

It continues through the wide valley until the sharp peaks of the Gesäuse mountains greet you from afar. You reach Admont and it is best to plan a stop in the magnificent Benedictine monastery with the largest monastery library in the world.

4th Day: Admont – St. Gallen, approx. 55 km

It’s getting tight. The Enns makes its way with wild “Gesäuse” through the national park of the same name. The 20 km long gorge is certainly one of the most powerful natural spectacles in Austria.

5th Day: St. Gallen – Großraming, approx. 45 km

After saying goodbye to the magnificent Gallenstein Castle, we head towards Upper Austria. Mighty forested mountains form the Kalkalpen National Park, which is home to endangered animal species such as lynx and eagles. For the ascent from St. Gallen to the Mooshöhe, take the included shuttle bus (over 19 km/500 m elevation ).

6th Day: Großraming – Steyr, approx. 40 km

At the height of the iron trade, the Enns was of great economic importance. The raw ore was shipped on rafts to craftsmen and knives. Museums and show farms are available to take a look into the past.

7th Day: Steyr – Linz, approx. 50 km

Thanks to the confluence with the Steyr, the once narrow, narrow Enns has now become a stately river that flows past the town of the same name. Enns is considered the oldest town in Austria, which was settled by Celts and Romans. This epoch is presented in the Lauriacum Museum.

8th Day: Linz

Individual departure or extension – in addition bookable a return transfer by bus or train to Radstadt.
