Würzburg – Rothenburg

Along the Tauber Cycle Path

You begin your cycling holiday in the baroque city of Wurzburg and cycle through forests in the delightful Tauber valley to Tauberbischofsheim. Castles are waiting for you, in many houses of worship you will come across the wood-carved works of art by Tilmann Riemenschneider and the lovely little town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is the culmination. The Romantic Road is one of the world’s most famous bicycle tours in Germany – This is part 1!

2 different hotel categories to choose

1st Day: Wurzburg

Individual arrival. Explore the city of Wurzburg, which lies so charmingly between the vineyards. The Wurzburg Residence invites you to take a stroll through the beautifully landscaped garden. Enjoy your first day of vacation with a glass of wine in a wine tavern.

2nd Day: Wurzburg – Wertheim (approx. 45 km)

You leave Wurzburg on the Aalbach cycle path and come back to the Main at Bettingen. Now it is not far to Wertheim. The castle ruins towers over the small, winding alleys of the old town.

3rd Day: Wertheim – Region Bad Mergentheim (approx. 50 km)

After a visit to the sluice of the Main-Danube-Canal, you cycle towards the city of Dietfurt. In Kelheim, you can visit the imposing Befreiungshalle (Hall of Liberation) on the Michelsberg.

4th Day: Region Bad Mergentheim – Rothenburg ob der Tauber (approx. 55 km)

Visit the moated castle of Weikersheim and then cycle to Rothenburg. In the evening you take part in the night watchman tour through the city.

5th Day: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Individual departure or extension.

In the vicinity there are public parking lots, multi-storey car parks and underground garages (free of charge or subject to a charge). All costs incurred are to be paid on site.
