Along the Tauber Cycle Path

A wide variety of landscapes are presented on this section of the Romantic Road: the hilly Keuperbergland (mountainous area) of the Frankenhöhle, the valley of the Wörnitz with its lush green meadows, the circular crater of the Nördlinger Ries and, last but not least, the Danube valley near Donauwörth. Castles, monasteries and historic towns accompany you on this bicycle tour. The Romantic Road ist one of the world’s most famous cycling tours in Germany – This is part 2!

2 different hotel categories to choose

1st Day: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Individual arrival. As the epitome of German romanticism, Rothenburg attract visitors worldwide. Discover the picturesque buildings of the medieval old town. In the evening you take part in the night watchman tour through the city.

2nd Day: Rothenburg ob der Tauber – Dinkelsbühl (approx. 60 km)

The first destination is the town of Schillingsfürst, whose baroque palace complex towers over the town. Your stage destination is Dinkelsbühl in the Wörnitztal valley with its colourful town houses.

3rd Day: Dinkelsbühl – Nördlingen (approx. 40 km)

Cycle through the geologically interesting area, the Nördlinger Ries, before you get to Nördlingen. It has the only completely preserved and accessible city wall in Germany.

4th Day: Nördlingen – Donauwörth (approx. 40 km)

You pass Harburg, whose castle towers high above the valley. You continue to Donauwörth, which lies at the confluence of the Wörnitz in the Danube. The heart of the city is the magnificent Reichsstraße (street). The cathedral and the Café Engel are just a few of the stately town houses. Another special feature of the city is the Käthe-Kruse-Puppen-Museum (doll museum).

5th Day: Donauwörth
