Mozart’s home town Salzburg is the beginning and end of your cycle tour on the Tauern Cycle Path. Family-friendly, slightly hilly landscape along the Salzach and Saalach offer all the beauties of the Salzburg region. While the Krimml Waterfalls plunge impressively rapidly into the depths, Lake Zell invites you to cool off in a relaxed manner. The Hohenwerfen Fortress towers mightily high above the Tauern Cycle Path, while the Hohensalzburg Fortress promises a fantastic view over the city.

1st Day: Salzburg
Individual arrival and collection of travel documents. Explore the city of Mozart and Hohensalzburg Fortress, as well as Mirabell Palace. A visit to the extravagant Hangar-7 with its numerous historic airplanes and racing cars is well worth it!

2nd Day: Salzburg – Golling, approx. 30 km
After picking up the rental bikes, you leave Salzburg and start into the beautiful mountain scenery of the Hochkönig and Tennengebirge. Visit the city of Hallein, which is important for salt mining, and enjoy the ride past the Golling waterfall until you reach Golling.

3rd Day: Golling – Bischofshofen, approx. 25 km
Today it is advisable to plan more time for the giant ice-world in Werfen. A very special highlight with an impressive cave system in the Tennengebirge! Also recommended is the Hohenwerfen Castle before you arrive in the ski-jumping Mecca of Bischofshofen.

4th Day: Bischofshofen – Zell am See/Kaprun, approx. 55 km
The Salzach takes you to Zell am See after you say goodbye to the Salzburg Pongau. You shouldn’t miss the roaring Liechtenstein Gorge before heading to the picturesque Lake Zell.

5th Day: Zell am See/Kaprun – Krimml – Zell am See/Kaprun, approx. 60 km
With the Pinzgauer local train you travel comfortably to Krimml. Once there, it goes up to the largest falls in Europe – the impressive, famous Krimml Waterfalls are waiting! The mountain giants of the Hohe Tauern National Park accompany you on the comfortable descent to Lake Zell.

6th Day: Zell am See/Kaprun – Lofer, approx. 50 km
You leave the Hohe Tauern National Park region and cycle towards the mighty Loferer Steinberge. Follow the Saalach to Lofer.

7th Day: Lofer – Salzburg, approx. 60 km
On the last day of cycling you follow the Saalach to Bad Reichenhall in the Bavarian Berchtesgadener Land. Leave the province of Salzburg behind. The landscape widens again and soon you will reach Salzburg, your destination on the Tauern Cycle Path.

If you rent a bike for your trip, you are liable for damage and theft. When booking our rental bike disclaimer, we will assume liability for you so that you bear no financial responsibility in the event of loss or damage to the rental bike (with proper use and security). There are exceptions to this disclaimer which are loss of keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes, as well as damage due to intent or gross negligence.
